Museum Day Live! at GCV&M

The Genesee Country Village & Museum is joining in the annual celebration of boundless curiosity hosted by Smithsonian Magazine, Museum Day Live! A day for anyone and everyone.

On Saturday, September 22, anyone presenting a Museum Day ticket will receive free admission for two people, plus a bonus hour as the museum is open until 5 p.m. Sports fans will want to head to Silver Base Ball Park for a double-header starting at 11 a.m. to decide who will face-off in the Mayor’s Cup Championship game later this season.  Music lovers won’t want to miss the unique opportunity to experience a 19th-century choral tradition called shape-note singing. From 1 to 4 p.m., guests can give shape-note singing a try for themselves, or just enjoy the music. Art enthusiasts can explore three different exhibits including Victoria’s Closet, Working Like a Dog, and Yesterday’s Child. Nature lovers can hike the trails in the Nature Center or try their hand at orienteering. And everyone can celebrate the 170th anniversary of the first Women’s Rights Convention in Seneca Falls with tastings of Suffrage Cookbook recipes including Summer Berry Pudding, and engaging demonstrations that highlight the importance of women’s roles in the 19th century.

Explore the largest living history museum for free on September 22. Tickets are available now through the Smithsonian’s website: https://www.smithsonianmag.com/museumday/museum-day-2018/ Visit www.gcv.org for more information.
