Fresh Air Fund grateful for host families

This November, the Fresh Air Fund is grateful to the Rochester area families who have opened their hearts and homes to host Fresh Air children. Each summer, thousands of children from New York City’s low-income communities visit suburban, rural and small town communities along the east coast and southern Canada through The Fresh Air Fund’s Friendly Towns Program.

“My family is a third-generation host family. When Leonel visits, we love watching the fireworks, boating, going to the movies, and swimming at the beach!” said Juliette Abadir of Union County, New Jersey, a Fresh Air Fund host mother of six years.

Fresh Air children who are reinvited by host families may continue with The Fresh Air Fund through age 18 and can enjoy extended trips. Volunteer host families frequently share how they rediscover the beauty of their own communities through the eyes of Fresh Air children.
