Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve is seeking next NY State Chair

The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve organization, which works with businesses to resolve issues involving members of the National Guard and Reserve, is seeking a new New York State Committee Chair.

Dennis Lutz, a Rochester resident and retired corporate executive who currently serves as chair, will be reaching the end of his three-year term in October.

The state chair serves at the pleasure of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs and provides the leadership and vision for a team of dedicated volunteers spread all across New York in carrying out the mission.

The formal search for the next New York chair begins now. Applications have to be submitted to the New York Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) office by February 15, 2019.

The state chair is an official Department of Defense volunteer position. The position carries a three-year term and the protocol of a military two-star flag officer. The selected candidate for this prominent position will be required to take an oath of office and will be sworn in during a formal ceremony.

ESGR, a Department of Defense program, was established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve Component service members and their civilian employers and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee’s military commitment. Paramount to ESGR’s mission is encouraging employment of Guardsmen and Reservists who bring integrity, global perspective and leadership to the civilian workforce.

ESGR operates through a network of thousands of volunteers nationwide and in all state committees, and conducts volunteer activities, like employer outreach and awards presentations, military education briefs, and mediation. ESGR’s dedicated volunteers come from all walks of life. They are business executives, military spouses, civic leaders, military personnel, and patriotic citizens.

ESGR volunteers seek to improve the employer relations of men and women that put their careers on hold to serve in the National Guard and the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard Reserve.

Proven leaders, who are interested and meet qualifying skills for the New York ESGR State Chair position, as listed below, are encouraged to submit a nomination. To be considered for selection by the search committee, each interested candidate should submit their nomination package, to include the following items:
