New York State Ballet presents A Midsummer Night’s Dream
The New York State Ballet presents Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream on Saturday and Sunday, April 13 and 14, 2 p.m., at The Hochstein School. Set to Mendelssohn’s enchanting score, performed by a live orchestra and Webster-Schroeder’s Women’s Choir headed by Music Director Jared Chase and choir director Carrie Zugelder, this full-length classical ballet will feature students from the New York State Ballet’s training academy in addition to Company members and Graduate Program students from their professional company.
Filled with fairies, fireflies, and flowers, this ballet tells the tale of Oberon, the King of the Fairies, and Titania, the Queen of the Fairies, along with a cast of characters that get swept along in their magical antics. Brought to the Hochstein stage by Artistic Director Katherine Johnson, Ballet Master Robert Royce, and Graduate Program Director Alexandra Brydsten.
