Jay Diedreck, a resident of Spencerport for over 60 years and a graduate of Spencerport High School, has been busy in his retirement. His first book, titled Klem Watercrest the Lighthouse Keeper, came out last year and his recent accomplishment titled Seaside Journeys of Faith, was published this month.

The story setting of both novels is the fictitious and enchanting coastal village of Port James, Maine. Diedreck says to his potential readers, “As odd as it sounds, I have fallen in love with my book’s characters, I truly care deeply for each one of them! Many readers have expressed the same sentiment.”

Diedreck is currently keeping busy writing his third novel, A Port James Romance. About all three books, he says, “With all the violence on television and in the movies my novels are entertaining as well as wholesome. Each one is a feel-good book, which everyone deserves to experience … a nice summer read.”

Besides being an author, Diedreck has many other interests and recently constructed a little library, which is pictured. He believes it is both fun for people to share their books and it also helps unify the neighborhood in a pleasant way.

Both of Diedreck’s books are currently available at The Unique Shop in Spencerport, and other book outlets.
