Brockport heart transplant recipient gifted a summer of adventure

Two cardiac patients at Golisano Children’s Hospital, Judah Dantonio and Zach Losee, each received a summer adventure package thanks to the donations of Todd Liebert and Patrick Glavey who purchased the packages at the American Heart Assciation’s 2019 Heart Ball.

The adventure package includes a “survivor” bear called “Love Your Heart.” Created with the survivor in mind – it is a bear with a scar from heart surgery. In addition to the heart warrior bear, there is a fun summer adventure package for the family taking them to two amusement parks including Six Flags at Darien Lake and Seabreeze Amusement Park, tickets to the Rochester Museum & Science Center, tickets to the Strong National Museum of Play. Both Zach and Judah will also get to throw a pitch out at an upcoming Rochester Red Wings game along with premium seats for the whole family.

Judah Dantonio was born with one of the rarest heart defects seen in newborns. He has been through three open heart surgeries and has overcome many challenges. Judah still needs a heart and kidney transplant in the future, but now, he is doing well.

Zach Losee, of Brockport, was a healthy teenager when he went into sudden heart failure last year. He needed an advanced life support system and dialysis to recover, and later, was transported to another facility for a heart transplant. Zach is now back at school and hopes to be an advocate for organ donations.

“Zach is so excited about receiving this amazing summer ticket package,” said Julie Prest, Zach’s mom. “He has been through so much over the past nine months, and he deserves a chance to have fun and experience summer like any other teenager. We are so grateful to the donors for thinking of him.”
