Brockport Symphony Orchestra alumni to return for “10th Annual Holiday Pops Concert”

The Brockport Symphony Orchestra will present their “10th Annual Holiday Pops Concert” on Sunday, December 15, 3 p.m. at The Clover Center for the Arts, 1101 Clover Street, Rochester. Admission and parking are free, and donations will be gratefully accepted at the door. Directed by Jonathan Allentoff, this family concert will feature vocal soloists Lisa Waltzer and Michael DeLuca, Brockport Symphony Orchestra alumni, and Westside Brass.

Waltzer, who has appeared at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall in New York City and venues in the Greater Rochester area, will perform “Let It Snow,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” and “Rock of Ages.” She received her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from The University at Buffalo and is currently pursuing graduate studies at The College at Brockport. DeLuca, who has appeared on stage across Western New York, will perform “We Need a Little Christmas,” “Silver and Gold,” and “It Comes Around the Same Time Each Year.” He studied vocal performance with Heinz Rehfuss while attending The University at Buffalo and maintains an active performance schedule in Rochester. The concert finale will feature Waltzer and DeLuca singing “Count Your Blessings” and “Silver Bells” in new duet arrangements by Allentoff.

In celebration of the orchestra’s tenth season, Brockport Symphony Orchestra alumni from across New York State will be traveling to Rochester to perform with the orchestra for this special concert. In addition to the holiday songs with Waltzer and DeLuca, the orchestra will perform selections from “How The Grinch Stole Christmas,” “Joyful Holidays” arranged by Jack Bullock, and “The Trees of Christmas” by Glenn Heinlen. Westside Brass, featuring performers from the Brockport Symphony Orchestra and the Greece Community Orchestra, will also present new arrangements of traditional Christmas carols.

There will be a complimentary dessert reception following the performance. This project is made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a re-grant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Genesee Valley Council on the Arts. For additional information, visit www.brockportsymphony.org.
