The early launch of the iconic Girl Scout Cookie Program® is making the winter season a little brighter, just in time for the holidays. Girl Scout Cookie lovers across Western New York will be able to purchase their favorite cookies online only through direct shipping from December 7, 2019 to March 29, 2020 and then purchase cookies directly at cookie booths from March 1 to March 29, 2020. To purchase cookies from a girl, the public can go to gswny.org or call 1-888-837-6410.
The Girl Scout Cookie Program® is the largest entrepreneurial program for girls in the world, where girls get hands-on practice with a variety of skills, including goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics as they learn to think like entrepreneurs. Through the Cookie Program, girls not only discover their inner leadership potential, but also use their earnings to power experiences for themselves and their troop, including community service, travel, outdoor adventure, and science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) programming.
The change in the program’s start date accommodates the requests received by girls and their customers to have Girl Scout cookies available during the holiday season. This program year, girls will receive more benefits from their cookie sales supplemented by the $5 cost per box. 2020 will also mark the final year for the Thanks-A-Lot cookie as it will go into retirement.
