A moonlit evening with the majestic owl
Under a nearly-full moon, guests at Genesee Country Village & Museum can spend an evening celebrating and learning about the majestic owl. Saturday, February 8, from 5 to 8 p.m., Museum naturalists will take guests on guided hikes through the Nature Center’s trails while learning up-close about wildlife activity in the winter. Back in the Meeting Center, activities for all ages abound, including a reading of the Caldecott-winning book Owl Moon by Jane Yolen and a live-owl presentation by the Honeoye Falls-based group Wild Wings, Inc.
Guests can warm up by a crackling campfire while roasting marshmallows and sipping hot chocolate, or head over to Flint Hill Store to pick up some owl-themed souvenirs. No one will go away hungry with the food and drinks on offer, including a cash bar featuring the museum’s own Fat Ox Ale and a bourbon barreled cider from OSB Ciderworks, and from the kitchen, there will be pizza, soups, and other winter favorites. Tickets for Owl Moon are available at gcv.org or by calling 294-8218. Reservations are required for this event.
