Knights of Columbus hold virtual convention
During this time of sheltering in place and social distancing, organizations are looking for ways to continue to have operations and meet goals. The Knights of Columbus just completed their 125th annual New York state convention. The convention is generally held each April at the Villa Roma Resort in Callicoon, New York. This year, due to the coronavirus, a virtual convention was held.
Delegates had to register with the state council, submit their phone numbers, and then phone in at a particular time on Sunday, April 26, to conduct the business of the state council. Through an online service, delegates were able to interact all over the state, and with an abbreviated agenda, the business was completed.
Locally, Grand Knight Larry Peck (left) of Council 7707 in Spencerport, and Mike Flanagan (right) NYS Administrative State Chairman for Family Activities and also a member of the Spencerport Council, were able to attend the meeting. Peck and Flanagan met and practiced social distancing along with other safety precautions to complete the convention.
