A trauma-informed intervention for socialization was needed prior to the pandemic, however, the current state of affairs deems this a critical, imminent necessity for our youth. The pandemic has been traumatic to all ages, and we need to be equipped with the resources to manage the psychological needs of the community.

The Day Camp is an opportunity for all ages to engage in a socialization movement. This is a fun, safe, therapeutic, and educational opportunity; an alternative to a continuation of isolation and increased technology. Without compromising the academic demands placed on our kids, we provide a structured, trauma-informed, hands-on learning approach. Using the great outdoors as our primary setting, fresh air and nature are inescapable. Participants are exposed to a wide-range of activities, incorporating horses, creative arts, yoga, music, sports, gardening/landscaping, community service projects, and much more! It is an opportunity for adolescents and adults to be empowered, teach, and provide mentorship.

To continue our camp through the winter months we need your help! While the camp is currently provided on Wednesdays, 830am-3pm we aim to increase the number of camp hours & days of the week. Our new Peer Support Specialist Program has provided the necessary therapeutic supervision to support each participant’s social, emotional, and academic goals. To meet the needs of the community accessibility of this opportunity for children and adolescents requires increased Peer Support Interns & Specialists. In addition to building a winterized space we are also seeking increased resources for our Peer Program, including support to our Peer Support Interns for completion of their required education and training for certification.

We sincerely hope the public schools will resume normalcy soon, at which point the camp will transition to an after-school program. Although this may become a fading memory for many of us, the detrimental and irreversible impact of this pandemic on our youth will require substantial efforts, resources, and support for recovery. We can continue to make a difference, and minimize the impact of this disaster with your help.
