A gazebo dedicated to the memory of Willie Sweeting (1944-2018) was installed at the Sweden Town Park last week. The gazebo was sponsored by the Sweden Community Foundation and made possible through the generous donations of Mr. Sweeting’s family and friends. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the dedication ceremony will be held in the spring of 2021. The gazebo is located on the east side of the Town of Sweden Lodge and is surrounded by water on three sides.
The Sweden Community Foundation, founded in 2005, is a non-profit 501(c)(3) foundation that is committed to the expansion, promotion and funding of recreation opportunities for residents in the greater-Sweden community. The Foundation has contributed to Sweden Town Park projects such as Nietopski Field, soccer and football fields and lights, the lodge, accessible playground, and the splash pad. The Foundation continues its mission to enhance the Sweden Town Park and other recreational facilities and programs.
