Adaptive kayak dock to be dedicated in Brockport

The Village of Brockport will dedicate its new adaptive kayak dock at the Welcome Center, located at 11 Water Street, the first such dock on the Erie Canal. The public is invited to the dedication and ribbon cutting on July 15. The celebration begins at 5:30 p.m. with music by “She Sings,” and a flotilla of kayaks will arrive at 6 p.m.  Dignitaries from the Canal Corporation, Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor, and Rochester Accessible Adventures will participate in the dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony.

This is an official 1st Mile Canalway Challenge event. It is funded in part by Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor, along with support provided by the NYS Canal Corporation, and Market New York through I LOVE NY, New York State’s Division of Tourism, as a part of the state’s Regional Economic Development Council initiative.

Join the flotilla and paddle as a group down the Erie Canal from the floating dock at SUNY Brockport’s Commissary Park to the Brockport Welcome Center for the dock dedication. This short paddle is ideal for beginners. Participants can bring their own kayak, canoe, or paddleboard or rent a kayak from the Erie Canal Boat Company which will be present for the celebration (reserve ahead at
