Concerned Citizens Plan Brockport Village Court Community Information Forum
March 12 at Brockport First Baptist Church
The potential dissolution of the Brockport Village Court has people in and around the village talking, with many concerned about the number of unanswered questions surrounding the proposal. A grassroots consortium comprised of scores of concerned citizens from the greater Brockport area has formed in response to what they say is an absence of answers, planning, or transparency from the Village.
The resolution to dissolve the Village Court was put forth on December 22, 2025, with a public hearing scheduled for January 5. The hearing was recalled because the Village facility could not accommodate the turnout of residents. It was replaced by a board meeting on January 16 at Oliver Middle School, where community members spoke both for and against the proposal.
Acknowledging that a board meeting is not conducive to meaningful dialogue, the citizens’ group is hosting a community forum to give community members the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the subject, engage in discussion, and hopefully get answers to their lingering questions.
The Brockport Village Court Community Information Forum will be held on Thursday, March 12, at 6:30 p.m. at Brockport First Baptist Church and will be moderated by a third-party village resident. Members of the Village Court Ad-Hoc Committee (including board members) have been invited to participate in their chosen role as a guest or panel speaker, recognizing that their insight and perspective is valuable to the public.
The forum is open to the public and will feature a brief presentation followed by time for questions and comments. The proposed dissolution of the Village Court stands to most profoundly affect taxpayers from Brockport and Sweden; however, residents from all three municipalities (Brockport, Clarkson, and Sweden) are encouraged to attend.
