Rochester Native Returns Home with Navy’s Official Chorus

Performance March 10 at Roberts Wesleyan

Rochester native Musician 1st Class Michaela Swan will return to her childhood home with the United States Navy Sea Chanters, the official chorus of the U.S Navy, for a performance on Tuesday, March 10, at 7 p.m. at Roberts Wesleyan University, 2301 Westside Drive, Rochester. The concert is free, but tickets can be reserved by visiting the band’s website at https://www.navyband.navy.mil/events/2026-mar-10-roberts-wesleyan-university.

This will be the second time a Rochester native has returned home with the United States Navy’s premier musical organization in two weeks.

Swan joined the U.S. Navy Band Sea Chanters in 2022 after winning a national audition as an alto vocalist. Prior to joining the Navy, she established herself in jazz and musical theatre, making her a perfect fit for the chorus known for its musical versatility. Swan earned a bachelor’s degree from the Eastman School of Music in 2018 and subsequently worked as a vocal instructor and freelance performer in the Chicago area.

Continuing the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States, the Sea Chanters will present a family-friendly concert designed to connect the community with its Navy. The program features a broad selection of musical works, from patriotic selections, traditional sea chanties, and feel-good classics by Stevie Wonder, the Andrews Sisters, a Motown medley, as well as contemporary favorites.

The Sea Chanters chorus is frequently found at the center of high-profile national events. At home in Washington, D.C., the group performs for the president, vice president, and numerous congressional, military, and foreign dignitaries.
