Sweden Senior Singers Present Spring Concert

Performance Dedicated in Memory of Bill Doty
The Sweden Senior Singers (SSS) invite the community to their 17th Annual Spring Concert, a celebration of music, community, and joyful performance, on Saturday, May 16, in Brockport. This year’s concert will be dedicated to the cheery, loving memory of William (Bill) Doty, aka Good Boy Bill, who sang bass with SSS for many years.

The Sweden Senior Singers are a vibrant group of enthusiastic singers who rehearse weekly during the school year at the Sweden Clarkson Recreation Center. In addition to their annual concert, they perform regularly at nursing homes, senior living facilities, and special events throughout the greater Rochester area.
Under the direction of Maryellen Giese and accompanied by Jan Rhody, the ensemble will present a lively and heartfelt program showcasing the talents of senior vocalists from Brockport and surrounding areas.
This year’s concert will also feature special guest performers, the Brockport High School Choir (BHS Choir), directed by Katelyn Marasco.
This collaboration highlights the unique and uplifting experience of intergenerational singing, where voices of different ages come together to create harmony, build community, and share a mutual love of music and singing. Performing side by side, these singers demonstrate how music can bridge generations and bring people together in meaningful ways.
All are welcome to enjoy an evening of uplifting music and community spirit on Saturday, May 16, at 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 124 Main Street, Brockport. Admission is free; free-will offerings are gratefully accepted.
The Sweden Senior Singers also welcome new members. Seniors and non-seniors in the community who enjoy choral singing (and are free on Wednesday mornings) are encouraged to consider joining this friendly and supportive group. No formal auditions are required—just a love of music, singing, and a desire to participate. Rehearsals are held on Wednesday mornings during the school year, offering both musical enrichment and meaningful social connection.
