Hero’s Path Bike Ride to Celebrate Veterans’ Educational Journey

Traveling from MCC to SUNY Brockport on June 20
Community members, veterans, military-connected students, families, and cycling enthusiasts are invited to take part in the Hero’s Path Bike Ride on June 20, 2026, a 21-mile community ride along the Erie Canal celebrating the educational pathway that supports veterans and military-connected students as they transfer from Monroe Community College (MCC) to SUNY Brockport.
Beginning at 8 a.m. at REI Rochester and concluding at approximately 1 p.m. at Commissary Park in Brockport, the event is free and open to the public, with registration available through Eventbrite (https://tinyurl.com/5n933p3b). Participants will honor the service and achievements of military-connected students while enjoying one of the region’s most scenic cycling routes.
Riders will have access to rest stops approximately every five miles, featuring water, snacks, and basic first-aid support. Adaptive cycling equipment, interpreter services, and one-way transportation for riders and bicycles are available upon request during registration to help ensure accessibility for all participants.
The ride culminates with a finish-line celebration at the Bicentennial Bridge in Commissary Park, where attendees can connect with regional veteran organizations and community resources dedicated to supporting military-affiliated individuals and families. The ride recognizes the educational journeys of veterans and military-connected students as they transition from military service to higher education and career success.
The Hero’s Path Bike Ride is funded in part by the New York State Canal Corporation and the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor, with support from community partners including REI, Runnings, Team RWB, and Walk! Bike! Brockport!
