Oasis Rochester
Enriching the Lives of Older Adults
Episcopal SeniorLife Communities (ESLC) is now the sponsoring organization of Oasis Rochester, the local chapter of The Oasis Institute. Oasis is a national nonprofit dedicated to enriching the lives of older adults through lifelong learning classes, health and wellness programs, technology education, and volunteer opportunities.
For more than 40 years, Oasis programs have made a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults across the country — including in the Greater Rochester area. Oasis Rochester offers a wide range of programs designed specifically for adults 50 and older, including classes in arts, humanities, and culture; health and fitness activities; one-on-one technology assistance; and volunteer opportunities that allow older adults to give back to the Rochester community. All programs reflect the Oasis philosophy that older adults deserve enriching, meaningful experiences that support their independence and quality of life.
Under the sponsorship of Episcopal SeniorLife Communities, those programs will continue and expand, supported by ESLC’s deep roots in the Rochester community and its longstanding commitment to older adult well-being.
“This is a natural and exciting partnership,” said Lisa Marcello, President and CEO of Episcopal SeniorLife Communities. “Oasis Rochester has built something remarkable over the past four decades — a community where older adults come to grow, connect, and thrive. We are honored to be a part of carrying that mission forward. Together we will expand the positive impact both organizations have had in our community.”
Ann Cunningham, Executive Director of Oasis Rochester, welcomed the transition. “Joining Episcopal SeniorLife Communities gives Oasis Rochester a greater opportunity to serve even more older adults in our community. They share our belief that aging should be filled with purpose, joy, connection, and continued growth, and I couldn’t be more excited about what we’ll be able to accomplish together.”
Paul Weiss, PhD, President of The Oasis Institute, expressed confidence in the new sponsorship arrangement. “Our Rochester location has been a shining example of what our programs can do for a community. Partnering with an organization of Episcopal SeniorLife Communities’ caliber ensures that the spirit and mission of Oasis will not only continue in Rochester, but flourish for years to come.”
Oasis Rochester will relocate from 259 Monroe Avenue to 1530 East Avenue, Rochester, beginning in January, where updated fitness and educational spaces will serve as its new home. To view the programs and classes available through Oasis Rochester, visit rochester.oasis.org.
