Save More and Waste Less This Fall

Free Workshops on Composting and Preventing Food Waste
Fall brings colorful leaves, garden cleanup, and anticipation of Thanksgiving. But before bagging yard debris or tossing food scraps, Monroe County residents can learn how these everyday leftovers can become valuable resources.
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Monroe County (CCE Monroe County) is offering three free workshops this November to help residents compost garden waste, prepare for winter, and reduce food waste during the holiday season. Participants will discover practical ways to turn leaves and garden clippings into compost, make the most of their groceries, and reduce waste at home.
Free November Workshops
- Want to Start Composting but Don’t Know Where to Begin? — November 2, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., online via Zoom.
- Composting in Action: Explore Different Methods — November 14, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., in person at CCE Monroe, 2449 St. Paul Blvd., Rochester.
- Prevent Food Waste in Your Daily Cooking — November 24, 5 to 6 p.m., in person at Winton Branch Library and online via Zoom (hybrid workshop).

Whether you want to make better use of fall leaves, save money on groceries, or keep Thanksgiving leftovers out of the trash, these workshops offer simple steps toward a less wasteful home and a healthier environment.
All three workshops are free and 100% funded by Monroe County. Registration is required and can be made by scanning the QR code or visiting https://monroe.cce.cornell.edu/events.
