The domestic relations law has been amended in relation to waiving the fee for marriage licenses for active duty members of the armed forces. Under this amendment, the State fee for marriage licenses and certificates is waived when either applicant is a member of the United States Armed Forces on Active Duty, and towns may elect to waive its portion of the fee as well. Supervisor Bill Reilich announced that formal authorization to provide this waiver was adopted by the Greece Town Board during the September 17, 2019 meeting (Resolution 187 of 2019).
The new waiver for members of the Armed Forces of the United States on Active Duty eliminates the $40 fee normally charged for marriage licenses of which $30 is provided to the NYS Commissioner of Health and $10.00 to the Town.
