August Challenge at Lakeview Community Church successful
For the past 14 years during the month of August, Lakeview Community Church (near Edgemere Drive) holds an “August Challenge.” Members of the church and people from the local community are challenged to donate a specific food item, such as cans of tuna or peanut butter, for the Greece Ecumenical Food Shelf.
This year the “August Challenge” was to collect 1500 cans of Chunky Soup and $500. Actually, 1000 cans of Chunky Soup and $1510 were received. When the $500 is set aside for our cash goal, $1010 is left for extra soup purchases, that is 673 extra cans of soup. The goal was accomplished with 1673 cans of soup and $500.
Many thanks to Lakeview members, families, and friends, Union Scrap Processing, Inc., Goldwell of New York, Unionville Station Condominiums, local community and neighbors along the lakefront. Love and Kindness accomplishes great things.
