On September 6, 2023, the Legion celebrated a milestone, giving out 5,000 flags as part of the George Haines Veteran Flag Program at Unity Hospital.
The George Haines Veteran Flag Program started in August 2019, in honor of Haines who was a World War II veteran and member of the Greece American Legion Post #468.
The program honors all veterans admitted to Unity Hospital in Greece, by placing a flag magnet on their room door at the hospital.
