From the Greece Ecumenical Food Shelf & Clothing Closet

Our Thanksgiving program is centered on the gratitude aspect of this holiday and helping families to buy those special foods like the turkey, pumpkin pie and the extra side dishes that make this meal so memorable. The program is funded by community donations only. With the increased requests for help and the unpredictability of our donations, we mainly focus on assisting families in making this celebration meal a little more special, although we help a number of individuals as well. We will again give out Aldi gift cards in graduating amounts according to household size.

The Greece and Charlotte communities have been faithful and generous supporters in making this program a success since we started it in 1998. Without you, we could not make this happen. If you would like to assist us once again, you may do so in one of three ways.

•Send a check (made out to GEFS&CC) with “Holiday” written in the memo section. Mail to 500 Maiden Lane, Rochester, NY 14616.
•Donate Aldi gift cards in amounts of $20 or $40. These amounts work the best for the different household sizes. Make sure the amount is clearly marked.
We ask that all donations be sent in by November 12. This deadline helps us to determine our cut-off point in accepting clients.

The third way is to supply a family with the food for their holiday meal. If you or your group would like to be matched with a family, call our hotline at 585-397-0604 and leave your contact information. We will get back to you and explain the details. The deadline for this option is October 20.
Together we can make Thanksgiving a more special day for so many of our struggling neighbors. Thank you!
