Greece family have ties to the Erie Canal? Did they come to the area via the canal; live, work, and/or play on or near the canal; ship products via the canal; or even help build the canal? Please share your stories! As part of this year’s celebration of the 200th anniversary of the completion of the Erie Canal, towns and historical societies that border the canal are preparing exhibits, displays, and events this summer. The Greece Historical Society would love to include stories about how Greece families were impacted by the canal. Include any information you have, such as the names of family members or others, date of the event or events, description of the event, and the like. Hopefully, these stories will enrich our understanding of how the canal impacted life in Greece.
