The Jerry J. Helfer Memorial Food Truck Rodeo was held the evening of June 4 at the Greece Town Campus in conjunction with the first Greece Summer Concert Series featuring the Zac Brown Tribute Band.
Food Trucks that participated included local favorites Kona Ice, Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee, Lugia’s Ice Cream, Wraps on Wheels, Sammies N’ Sweets, The Melt Truck, Agatina’s Italian Eats, Macarollin’, Mr. Squeeze Lemonade, Rob’s Kabobs, Chef’s Catering, J&S Fried Dough, Mary’s Food, Snowy of WNY, and Sugary Delights. Zac Brown Tribute Band entertained guests with a variety of the beloved Zac Brown Band songs.
All proceeds collected from the event were donated to the Jerry J. Helfer Youth Engagement Scholarship fund. Jerry Helfer was a man of exceptional character and virtue who always exhibited kindness to anyone he encountered. Throughout his life, Jerry dedicated his time and talents to making the Greece community a better place. One of Jerry’s first positions in public service was being a member of the Greece Youth Board. Additionally, Jerry served as Town Councilman from 1998 until 2009 and as Deputy Supervisor from January 2014 until his untimely passing in July of the same year.
The Jerry J. Helfer Youth Engagement Scholarship provides the Greece community with the opportunity to recognize a student that regularly upholds exemplary moral values, devotes time and energy into helping serve the Greece community, and consistently displays outstanding leadership skills. Helfer Memorial Food Truck Rodeo,” said Supervisor Reilich. “We had a variety of food trucks participating to feed the crowds and a fantastic performance by Zac Brown Tribute Band! We were so happy to once again bring back this popular Town event that helps to support a scholarship dedicated to recognizing the outstanding youth in our community.”
