Dragonhawks honor Greece Post 468with Certificate of Appreciation

Delta Company, 2-10th Assault Helicopter Battalion, 10th Combat Aviation Brigade—nicknamed the “Dragonhawks”—presented the American Legion Greece Post 468 with a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of the post’s steadfast support during their nine-month deployment to Kuwait.
Folklore from the underworld of Warcraft describes Dragonhawks as fierce warrior riders who mount fire-breathing dragons, break enemy lines first, and patiently wait for the cavalry’s advance. In reality, Delta Company embodies that same tenacity and intensity, executing Operation Inherent Resolve missions far from home. Their battlefield is not a fantasy realm but the deserts of the Middle East, where their mission to “break the enemy’s armor” is literal and urgent.
Greece Post 468 demonstrated its commitment to the American Legion’s four pillars—Veterans Affairs, National Security, Americanism, and Children & Youth—by adopting the Dragonhawks’ platoon. Contributions for the platoon program came from the American Legion’s four families– American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, Sons of The American Legion, and American Legion Riders as well as the Veterans of Foreign Wars and VFW Auxiliary chapters.
Helen Eisenberg (Legion Auxiliary) and Marion Palumbo (Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary) served as program coordinators. Each month, care packages were sent to the platoon including toothpaste, gum, candy, magazines, local children’s drawings and notes, beef jerky, Christmas trees, decorations, and more.
On July 10, 2025, with great appreciation, the U.S. Army’s 10th Mountain Platoon Dragonhawks presented Helen, Marion, and the rest of the Greece Post 468 members with a Certificate of Appreciation and the platoon’s banner.
Sincere acknowledgement to, First Sergeant Carlos I. Garcia Elias, Delta Company 2-10th Assault Helicopter Battalion and 10th Combat Aviation Brigade and CPT Brenton Ausen, US Army 10th Mountain Division for their appreciation and distinguished service to our county.
Those interested in joining this platoon-adoption initiative can contact Greece Post 468 at 344 Dorsey Road. Contributions help bridge the distance between home and the front lines, uplifting the spirits of our servicemembers abroad.
