Greece Ecumenical Council of Churches is sponsoring a Be SMART gun safety presentation for adults on Monday, October 6, 7 p.m., at Messiah Lutheran Church, 4301 Mt. Read Boulevard, Rochester.
Learn how parents, caregivers, and community leaders can keep work to keep kids safe. This presentation is relevant for both gun owners and non-gun owners. Proven means of preventing kids from accessing firearms will be discussed.
Be SMART is a national public safety education campaign promoting responsible firearm ownership with the goal of reducing firearm related injuries and deaths among children.
SMART is an acronym representing five simple steps that each person can take, as every adult has a role in helping to keep all kids safe.
•Secure firearms in your home and vehicles
•Model responsible behavior around guns
•Ask about the presence of unsecured firearms in other homes
•Recognize the role of guns in suicide
•Tell your peers to be S-M-A-R-T
