Coughlin, Henshaw earn Hockey All-State Honors

Brockport High School hockey defenseman Zach Coughlin was named First Team All-State and forward Brandon Henshaw was named Second Team.

Henshaw was also named Player of the Year in Division III Class B West of the Monroe County League while Coughlin was a First Team choice.

Coughlin surpassed the 100-point career mark earlier this season and was highest scoring defenseman in Section V this past season with 16 goals and 30 assists in 20 games. Henshaw led all scorers with a league-high 32 goals and 28 assists for 60 points in the same number of contests.

Other area players honored were Division III Class B West First Team Hilton goaltender Nick Coyle, who was second in the league with 15 wins along with a sparkling 1.52 goals against average, and Cadets defenseman Bobby Vasta plus forward Justin Alves, who set a new team scoring record for division champion Churchville-Chili. Saints teammates Zach Fodge, Mike Luciw and Kyle Clar, were Second Team selections as was Brockport goaltender Justin Keene.

Hilton’s Kirk Carbone was given the Pugliese Sportsmanship Award, the Cadets Taunce Graham was named Top Scholar Athlete and the Fraser MacKenzie Team Sportsmanship Award went to Spencerport.
