BPD adds three part-time officers

by Kristina Gabalski

The Brockport Police Department has three new part-time police officers. Dominique Pietrantoni, Josh Sime, and Nicole Sarratori were ceremoniously sworn-in by Police Chief Daniel Varrenti during the March 26 regular meeting of the Brockport Village Board. Also present was Officer Tyler Dawson, who joined the BPD several months ago as a transfer from the Holley Police Department.

Varrenti said each of the new officers had shown initiative in coming to him and asking what they could do to facilitate being hired as a police officer.

All three recently graduated from the police training academy at Genesee Community College and have received over 1,000 hours in training, Varrenti said – 640 hours of on-the-job training and 500 hours of academy training.

“I could not be more proud of them,” Varrenti said of the new officers and all the members of the BPD. “The Brockport Police Department is one of the finest police departments I’ve ever had the opportunity to work with.”

Prior to the meeting a reception was held at the Village Hall to welcome the new police officers and to give community members an opportunity to meet them. Members of Pro-Brockport helped to organize the event and provided refreshments.
