Spencerport Chorus prepares for season
The Spencerport Community Chorus has set its rehearsal and concert dates for the 2013-2014 concert season. Rehearsals will begin Sunday, September 8 from 2 to 4:15 p.m. at the Spencerport Wesleyan Church, 2653 Nichols Street, located between Union Street and Gillett Road. Rehearsals will continue each Sunday through December 1. The Christmas concerts are scheduled for Saturday, December 7 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, December 8 at 3 p.m. All performances are held at the Wesleyan Church.
Rehearsals for spring will resume Sunday, January 5, from 2 to 4:15 p.m. at the Wesleyan Church, with spring concerts scheduled for April 5 at 7 p.m. and April 6 at 3 p.m.
The Spencerport Community Chorus, founded by chorus member G. Robert Dean, has been in existence for 33 years. It has performed at the annual Christmas tree lighting in Spencerport, the Eastman Theater, the Greater Rochester Choral Consortium’s (GRCC) “Rochester Sings” choral festival in Pittsford, St. Charles Borromeo Church in Greece, the Hochstein Performance Hall, and in Brockport for benefit concerts for Haiti, and for the Aurora House Hospice facility which is located in Spencerport. The chorus also provides music for Walker Brothers Funeral Home’s annual Remembrance Service.
Anyone who loves to sing is welcome to join the 40 voice chorus and there are no auditions. The chorus is directed by Margaret Page Colucci and accompanied by Margaret Johnson.
