New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) today announced September 12 that the bridges that carry the Lake Ontario State Parkway (eastbound and westbound) over the entrance road to Hamlin Beach State Park in the town of Hamlin, Monroe County, will be closed to all traffic effective Friday, September 13 until further notice.
A detour will be posted directing westbound traffic to exit at the State Park and re-enter the Parkway. A detour will be posted for eastbound traffic to exit at County Line Road to Moscow Road to the park access road.
DOT is developing an action plan to identify, design and construct the repairs necessary to re-open both bridges.
The unplanned closure comes after results of a recent bridge inspection.
