Norwegians visit in Kendall
A group of 36 Norwegians from two Sons of Norway Lodges near Stavanger in Southern Norway toured the Kendall area September 8 on a pilgrimage to the site of the first settlement of Norwegian immigrants in North America.
They visited Norway Road in Kendall and the Cleng Peerson House on Kendall Road. The photo shows them gathered by the interpretive sign in the canalfront park in Holley that marks the site where the immigrants disembarked from the newly-completed Erie Canal in October 1825.
