Lawrence touts measures to keep Monroe County safe
Assemblyman Peter Lawrence outlined his ideas to reform New York State’s parole system at a press conference held at the Gates Town Hall.
The key to Lawrence’s provision involves authorizing over 60,000 sworn police officers to support the efforts of parole officers in monitoring parolees. Additionally, legislation unveiled at the press conference would create a new database that would help law enforcement ensure parolees are conducting themselves according to the terms of their release.
“This action will provide an additional layer of safety for our law-abiding citizens. It will support our parole officers. This legislation will give added incentive to parolees to abide by the conditions of their release, thereby reducing recidivism. These needed reforms can be implemented at no cost to New York State taxpayers,” added Lawrence.
