Hamlin Town Park makes new additions
The Town of Hamlin Recreation Department is pleased to announce two new additions in the Town Park that will increase recreational opportunities for young and old. A new Pickleball Court has been added next to the existing tennis court. Players may borrow Pickleball rackets from the Town Clerk’s office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at no charge, with a valid ID to sign out the equipment.
The park also added the Gaga Pit constructed next to the Charlie Maier Lodge, which is available for use every weekday after 6 p.m. and all day weekends. During the week it is used in conjunction with Hamlin Recreation’s Summer Playground Camp and the Before & After School program.
What is Gaga Ball? It is a fast paced, high energy sport played in an octagonal pit. The more players, the better. Dubbed a kinder, gentler version of dodge ball, the game is played with a soft foam ball, and combines the skills of dodging, striking, running and jumping, while trying to hit opponents with a ball below the knees.
