Much needed restoration

On July 19, one of the golden eagles from the Emily L. Knapp Museum of Local History collection left Brockport for a much needed restoration. Estimated to be from the turn of the century, over time the eagle and the hare in its claws have deteriorated. The golden eagle’s feathers have faded, the hare’s fur is dingy, and the display case and its interior diorama need repair.

He closely follows the methods of well-known taxidermists such as Carl Aekely and lists the American Museum of Natural History as one of his clients.

The board of the museum looks forward to the day when their refurbished eagle will return to the museum to be enjoyed by all visitors.
