Candidates for 2016 Election – more than just Presidential candidates on the ballot

While there’s no denying this is a huge election year on the national level, voters in Monroe, Orleans and Genesee Counties will see state and local offices on the ballot Election Day.

In all three counties, U.S. Senator Charles Schumer (DEM, WOR, IND, WEP) is up for re-election.  He is being challenged by Republican/Conservative/Reform parties candidate Wendy Long; Robin Laverne Wilson, endorsed by the Green Party and Alex Merced, endorsed by the Libertarian Party.

In Congressional races, incumbent Louise Slaughter (DEM,WOR, WEP) is being challenged by Gates Supervisor Mark W. Assini (REP, CON,IND, REF) in the 25th Congressional District;  Diana Kastenbaum (DEM) is challenging incumbent Chris Collins (REP,CON, IND, REF) in the 27th Congressional District.

In the 7th Judicial District of State Supreme Court, Tonia Ettinger is the Democratic candidate, Charles A. Schiano, Jr. is running on the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines, and Mimi Satter is running on the Working Families line.

In the 8th Judicial District of State Supreme Court, which covers Orleans and Genesee Counties, voters will select two justices from a list of five candidates.   Lynn Wessel Keane has the Democratic and Independence endorsements, Grace Hanlon has the Democratic, Working Families and Independence lines, Mary Slisz has the Republican and Conservative lines, Daniel Furlong also has the Republican and Conservative lines and Kenneth Schaeffer has the Working Families party line.

There are a number of races for New York State Senate and Assembly.

In the 61st Senate District, incumbent Michael Ranzenhofer (REP, CON, IND, REF) is being challenged by Thomas A. Loughran (DEM, WOR, WEP) and Ruben Cartagena, Jr., who is endorsed by the Green Party.  In the 56th Senate District, incumbent Joseph Robach (REP, CON, IND, REF) is being challenged by Ann Lewis, who is endorsed by the Democratic and Working Families parties.  Incumbent Robert Ortt (REP, CON, IND, REF) is running unopposed for the 62nd Senate District seat.

In the New York State Assembly, incumbent Harry Bronson (DEM,WOR, IND, WEP) is being challenged by Bob Zinck, who is endorsed by the Republican and Reform parties in the 138th District. In the 137th District, incumbent David Gantt (DEM) is running unopposed.  In the 134th District, incumbent Peter Lawrence (REP, CON, IND, REF) is running unopposed.  In the 139th Assembly District, incumbent Stephen Hawley (REP, CON, IND, REF) is running unopposed.

In Monroe County, Melissa Barrett (DEM), Sam Valleriani (REP, CON, WOR, IND, REF), and Matthew Nafus (WEP) are running for County Court Judge. Maritza Buitrago (DEM, WOR, WEP) and Stacey Romeo (REP, CON, IND, REF) are running for Family Court Judge.

Democrat Adam Bello, who is also endorsed by the Working Families Party, is being challenged by Cheryl Rozzi (REP, CON, IND, REF) for Monroe County Clerk.

In town voting, Mark DeCory (REP, CON, IND) is running unopposed for a one year term on the Chili Town Council.  In Gates, Silvano Orsi (DEM) is running against David DiCaro (REP, CON, IND ) for a one year term on the Gates Town Council.  In Parma, Daniel Barlow (REP, CON, IND) is running unopposed for a one year term on the Town Council.

In Orleans County, Joseph Cardone (REP) is running unopposed for District Attorney.  Voters will choose three people for Orleans County Coroner from a list of four candidates. Katy Owczarczak and Scott Schmidt have the Democratic endorsement, Rocco Sidari, Scott Schmidt and Charles Smith have the Republican endorsement, and Rocco Sidari has the Conservative  endorsement.

In the Town of Murray, Theodore Spada, Jr. is running unopposed for Town Justice.  He has the Republican endorsement.

In Genesee County Charles Zambito is running unopposed for Genesee County Court Judge/Surrogate. He has the Republican and Conservative endorsements. William A. Sheron, Jr. is running unopposed for County Sheriff.

He has the Republican, Conservative, Independence and Reform party endorsements.

Scott German is running unopposed for Genesee County Treasurer. German is endorsed by the Republican, Conservative and Independence parties.

For two open Genesee County Coroner positions, Donald Coleman and Karen Lang are running. Both have the Republican Party endorsement.

In the Town of Bergen, there is a race for an unexpired term on the Town Council.  Republican Mark Anderson is running against Anne Sapienza, who has the Democratic, Conservative, Working Families, and Independence party endorsements.  Also in the Town of Bergen, Robert Swapceinski is running unopposed for Town Justice. He has the Republican Party endorsement.
