Hamlin Morton Walker Fire District supports new Knox HomeBox®
The Hamlin Morton Walker Fire District has established a new emergency Access program supporting the homeowners in the community of their Fire District using the new Knox® HomeBox™ Single key Vault. This will provide the Fire Department a rapid access system to homes for an emergency without forcing entry.
The HomeBox is a heavy-duty secure key vault installed outside the home typically on or near the front door giving the Fire Department access. Once the homeowner has it installed, they contact the Fire Department at 964-2330 or hmwknox@hmwfire.com and arrange time for them to place their house key inside and lock it. Only their Fire Department can lock or unlock it and they keep the key secure when not in use.
In a home emergency requiring assistance, if the people inside are unable to open the door or if they are not in the house, the responding fire crews can open the HomeBox and enter the house. They avoid force entry and costly alternatives of breaking down the door or a window. Once the firefighters get inside they can address the situation and take appropriate action. When completed they will re-secure the home and return the house key to the HomeBox.
Chief Ken Keirn states, “Having home emergency access will assist us in saving people and property. The HomeBox will help us enter the home quickly without damaging property.”
Knox President Joni Trempala stated, “We’re excited to offer the homeowner our new Knox Homebox, which the Fire Department can use to get fast access to you or your home in an emergency.”
