Ogden Historical Society 2017 schedule
The Ogden Historical Society announces its 2017 season at the Colby-Pulver House. The museum will open from 2 to 4 p.m., beginning Sunday, May 7 and continue Sundays through October. Group tours can be arranged at any time during this season by appointment by contacting Judi Stewart at 615-8240.
The first exhibition, “The Bride Wore White,” will showcase a collection of bridal fashions from 1900 through 1967. Light refreshments will be served on opening day, compliments of Wegmans. The group still seeks early photographs of brides with an Ogden connection. Photographs can be donated or scanned and returned.
July and August will feature exhibits of early farm equipment and needlecrafts. September and October will showcase “Ogden in Pictures” with entries from their photo contest as well as from their historic collection. Entry blanks can be picked up at the Ogden Farmers’ Library or at the Colby-Pulver House during tour hours. The deadline for entries is August 15. Prizes will be awarded both by an expert panel (Don Lenhard, Fr. John Loncle and Joe Pompili) and by popular vote.
The Ogden Historical Society searches for volunteers to act as tour hosts on Sunday afternoons, for inventory work, exhibit staging, program development and light maintenance. Interested parties should contact the Society at 352-1586 and leave a message, or David Haines, President at 490-4751.
