Westside Clubs stage “Meet & Greet”

The purpose of the event hosted by the Greece Rotary Club at Ridgemont CC was to attract community members who would like to know more about Rotary to an event including all the Area 9 Westside Clubs (Greece, Brockport, Gates Chili, Hilton and Spencerport.) Don Alhart, also Master of Ceremonies, spoke for the first part of the meeting educating those present on the history, goals and projects of the nation’s oldest service organization. Projects also brought up a description of the Rotary Foundation whose funds support the numerous Rotary projects around the world including the $450 million effort in conjunction with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to eradicate polio in the world. Also speaking were Past District Governor Bill Gormont of the Greece Rotary and Chuck Gannon, the current Greece club president who organized the event. Club representatives also spoke about their individual clubs and what makes them notable. Those attending had the opportunity to talk with members of any or all of the clubs present. Note: Rotary members may join a club in either their home or work locales. Brockport Rotary meets on Thursdays at 6:15 p.m. in the Brockport Bill Gray’s Restaurant. Visitors are welcome.
