Dream to reality: The Gathering Table celebrates ten years
It started out as a dream. At first it seemed a bit … ambitious. But they had faith, and hope. And, after lots of prayer and hard work, the dream became a reality. And it grew. The Brockport First Baptist Church is very excited to celebrate its ten-year anniversary of the Gathering Table on July 15. On the third Sunday of each month, dedicated members of the church serve up a free hot and well-balanced meal to anyone in our community. Since the doors opened on July 20, 2008, it has become clear that fellowship and connection with others are as important as the food that is served. Lots of stories, kindness and support have been exchanged over the years, along with countless hugs and handshakes. There’s no question that a meaningful relationship with the community has been developed.
The Gathering Table is open on the third Sunday of each month (closed in June) from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Brockport First Baptist Church, 124 Main Street. The Teen Closet, offering clothing and accessories to area teens free of charge, is open at the same time.
The Gathering Table also provides a wonderful opportunity for service for the church’s congregation as well as other churches, organizations and individuals. The church is grateful to all those who volunteer to help serve food, bus tables, play music, etc. Those interested in helping, contact the church at 637-9770.
Join Brockport First Baptist Church as they celebrate ten years of giving on Sunday, July 15, from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
