Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo has been appointed to sit on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Counties (NACo), which serves America’s 3,069 county governments with the mission of achieving healthy, vibrant and safe counties across the nation.
County Executive Dinolfo was appointed by California County Supervisor Greg Cox, who was sworn in as president of NACo at NACo’s 83rd Annual Conference on July 16. The NACo Annual meeting attracted more than 3,000 leaders in county government service from across the country, making it one of the largest to date.
“Local government works,” said Cox. “I have seen firsthand the ability of county governments to transform lives and communities. When America’s 3,069 counties, parishes and boroughs are united at the national level, we can be an immense force for good. I am honored to lead NACo in this noble effort.”
One of the first orders of business for NACo President Cox was to appoint members to standing committees and to the NACo Board of Directors. President Cox appointed Dinolfo to an at-large position on the NACo Board of Directors.
“It is an honor and a privilege to have this opportunity to represent Monroe County and the state of New York on the national level through the NACo Board of Directors. I am grateful to President Cox for his confidence in me and I look forward to sharing Monroe County’s successes in growing more jobs, building better budgets, and supporting stronger families with the thousands of counties like ours across America,” said Dinolfo, who also sits on the board of the New York State Association of Counties (NYSAC).
Over the course of the year, NACo will continue to demonstrate how counties deliver people-centered services, maximize government efficiency and ensure responsible stewardship of taxpayer resources.

Acquario, Executive Director of the NYS Association of Counties added, “County Executive Dinolfo brings a wealth of experience to the national forum and her contribution will be invaluable to Monroe County and New York as we continue to provide public services, grow our economy and ensure a safe and modern transportation system. The federal government is an integral partner to counties in New York and the more advocacy we have at the national level, the better off our citizenry will fare.”
