AARP Tax-Aide offers tax return preparation service for seniors
Many seniors find the tax preparation process daunting because of the expense and the complexity of the frequently changing IRS laws. It is especially difficult if there have been significant life changes like retirement or the death of a spouse.
AARP Tax-Aide has helped millions of low to moderate income senior taxpayers by offering free, in-person tax return preparation service. Seniors are guided on what paperwork to bring and what to expect at their appointment. Taking the stress and fear out of the tax return preparation process is the goal. IRS-certified volunteers will file senior returns electronically after thoroughly explaining how they arrived at the final results.
AARP membership is not required to receive this assistance. All appointments are scheduled on a first come, first served basis. The service is available in the following locations:
Spencerport – Mondays only from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. from February 4 through April 8 at the Spencerport Fire District – Station #3, 2588 South Union Street, Spencerport. Appointments are now available by calling 585-902-0021.
Hilton – Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to Noon from February 5 through April 11 at the Hilton Village Community Center, 59 Henry Street, Hilton. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 585-392-9030 beginning January 8.
Greece – Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 3 p.m. from February 5 through April 11 at Greece Baptist Church, 1230 Long Pond Road, Rochester. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 585-764-8863 Tuesdays through Fridays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. beginning January 8.
