First Presbyterian Church of Holley marks 200 years
The First Presbyterian Church of Holley is 200 years old, having started on January 5, 1819, in a school house on Sandy Creek in the Town of Murray. Throughout this year, there will be a number of celebrations open to the public.
The first event is a free concert on Sunday, March 17, at 2 p.m., called “God Is On This Train.” Val Fowler, a local musician, will offer his voice and guitar to celebrate faith and faithfulness. A finger-style guitarist, Fowler has been collecting and learning songs for 52 years. He is a song-finder, stating,“If I don’t find them and sing them, most people will never hear them.” Persistent faithfulness and hope are themes of his life and music.
