In celebration of Earth Day 2019 and in preparation for the 195th navigation season of the New York Canal System, the New York State Canal Corporation is partnering with Parks & Trails New York to sponsor the 14th Annual Canal Clean Sweep during the weekend of April 26 to 28.
Communities across the state will be coming together to take part in this event. Kendall Masons will host an event on April 27 at East Avenue Lift Bridge in Holley. Canal Clean Sweep highlights the continuously growing significance of the Canal System as a recreational and tourism destination across the state and here in Holley. Community organizations, service groups, municipalities, and businesses across the New York Canal System participate in Canal Clean Sweep. More than 50 local clean-up events have been planned in Canalside parks, community spaces, and on Canalway Trail segments.
