Hilda Rosario Escher explores State Senate run
Hilda Rosario Escher, former CEO of Ibero-American Action League and longtime community leader, announced on July 29 that she is beginning to explore a run for State Senate. Rosario Escher would be running to represent the 56th Senate District, currently represented by Joe Robach. The 56th Senate District includes part of the City of Rochester, and the Towns of Brighton, Clarkson, Gates, Greece, Hamlin, and Parma.
“My career has been dedicated to building stronger, fairer, and more prosperous communities throughout Rochester and Monroe County, and I am proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish together,” Rosario Escher said. “When I stepped down as Ibero’s CEO, I made clear that serving our community would remain a priority. We need to ensure that our leaders in Albany are committed to educating our future, committed to promoting economic growth and prosperity, committed to investing more state aid into the region, and committed to enhancing Rochester and Monroe County for young adults to move here and stay to raise a family. In the months ahead, I look forward to continuing to talk with people throughout the district about all of these issues, and discussing the possibility of representing them in the New York State Senate.”
Hilda Rosario Escher is a member of the Regional Economic Development Council for the Finger Lakes Region, sits on the statewide Empire State Development Board, and is on the boards of Somos el Futuro, the Willow Domestic Violence Center, and the National Museum of Play. She is the former President & CEO of IBERO-American Action League, Past-Chair of Coordinated Care Services’ Board of Directors, and Past-President of the Rochester Psychiatric Center Board.
This past January, Rosario Escher was recognized by the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce and its Women’s Council affiliate as the winner of the 33rd Annual ATHENA International Award. Additionally, in 2012, she was honored as the ‘Woman of Distinction’ for the 56th State Senate District. Rosario Escher and her family live in the city of Rochester.
