St. Leo’s Church welcomes visit of St. Jude relic

Rev. Patrick Tobin, director of the Dominican Shrine of St. Jude Thaddeus in Chicago, will bring an arm relic of the apostle St. Jude Thaddeus to St. Leo the Great Parish, 167 Lake Avenue, Hilton, on Saturday, February 8, at 10 a.m. This mission will include a talk, the Rosary, Veneration of the relic, and Mass.

The relic is about an inch-and-a-half to two inches of the forearm bone and is encased in a holding case from the mid-to-late 1700s that was fashioned as a forearm and hand. The holder looks like the anatomy from which a bone comes from, Fr. Tobin says. It is the largest relic of an apostle outside of Europe. The remains of the apostle are by and large in St. Peter’s Basilica.

St. Jude is the patron saint of hope and hopeless causes.

Refreshments will be served.
