The Kiwanis Club of Spencerport heard an update on the Challenger Miracle Field of Greater Rochester at a recent meeting of the club. The mission of the Miracle Field is described as a place that provides people with developmental, physical, or intellectual disabilities a barrier-free, safe, accessible place to experience the health benefits and joy of play through baseball, other team sports, and adaptive recreational equipment. Smith, who is legally blind, is a former teacher at Mercy High School and is now the captain of the Rochester Red Wings Beep Baseball team. Kampff, a past president of the Kiwanis Club of Webster, founded the Challenger Miracle Field and is currently president of its board of directors.
