Town of Sweden closes buildings to public
The Sweden Town Hall, Sweden/Clarkson Community Center, Sweden Highway Garage, and the Sweden Farmers Museum closed to the public on Monday, March 16, 2020, until further notice. All Departments are working and will carry out business to the extent possible by phone, mail, and email.
Pursuant to Governor Cuomo’s Executive Order 202.1, which suspends the Open Meetings law through April 11, 2020, all Town Board meetings and workshops and meetings of support boards and committees normally open to the public will be closed to the public. Most non-essential meetings will be canceled. Meetings that are necessary to continue the business of the Town will be conducted, videoed to the extent possible, and posted for the public to view. All Recreation Programs are canceled for the time being.
Residents may drop-off tax payments and dog license renewals and other business documents in the drop-box at the front of the Town Hall, 18 State Street. Residents should call the appropriate department to determine what is needed. Receipts for all transactions will be mailed.

Essential town services will continue to be provided. The Sweden Town Board has adopted several sets of protocols for employees to follow to help keep employees and the public safe while conducting business. Updates to building and program closings will be made regularly.
The Sweden Town Board is committed to aiding in the effort to contain the COVID-19 virus. The Town urges all residents and businesses to follow the recommendations of the CDC, NYS Health Department, and the Monroe County Health Department.
UPDATE
The Sweden Town Board has decided, upon the recommendation of New York State, to keep all buildings closed and to send employees home now through Sunday, March 22. Emergency and essential services will still be provided. The Board will decide by Sunday evening, whether to continue to keep employees home and buildings closed or whether to re-open.
