Historian documenting effect of pandemic on daily life
Town historians in New York State are attempting to document the effects of coronavirus on our communities. I would especially welcome any written material from our citizens relating their everyday experiences during this time. Journaling is a good way to record your experiences and is also therapeutic. Reverend Michael Sloan of the First Congregational Church UCC in Spencerport covered this subject in a recent sermon. So, if you are so inclined, I would be happy to receive your written impressions of your daily life during this stressful time.
You don’t have to write or journal every day (but you might be glad you did years from now), or write anything at all, but I would really like to hear your thoughts, receive some photos, and I also welcome students’ input and childen’s artwork.
Some ideas:
•What are you doing to keep busy, stay in shape, make others feel better?
•How do you handle having the whole family in the house all the time?
•If you are alone, how do you keep in touch with friends, family, and spend your time?
•How do you keep in touch with family and friends?
•How do you manage your everyday needs like meals, groceries, household supplies, and entertainment?
•How do you feel about what the community leaders are saying and what you are hearing on TV and online?
•How will you use what you are learning during this time in the future?
•Any other topic you feel is important.
•Or, any input you would like to have for posterity’s sake.
