The Spencerport American Legion Auxiliary Unit #330 donated $500 in gift cards to the Director of Monroe County Veterans Service Agency, Nick Stefanovic. The gift cards were for Wegmans and Walmart in $25 increments. The VSA is not able to take cash donations but can accept gift cards, food, cleaning supplies, and other household items for disbursement to needy veterans and their families.
The gift cards were purchased using funds collected from the Auxiliary’s distribution of poppies. Poppy funds are used to help veterans and their families and active-duty military and their families where financial and medical need is evident.
The Auxiliary also donated $500 from poppy donations to the Veterans Outreach Center.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the group will be distributing poppies in a different manner this year. Watch for more information on poppy distributions.
